On April 1, a compressor gas turbine has been launched at the petrochemical complex for the production of polypropylene in the Atyrau region. The launch of the equipment is one of the significant stages of commissioning at the plant. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of JSC “NC “KazMunayGas” Mr. Alik Aidarbayev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC “NC “KazMunayGas” for oil refining and petrochemistry - Chairman of the Board of “KPI Inc.” LLP Mr. Daniyar Tiyessov

The regeneration air compressor from the global company Siemens is designed to work with high volumetric air flows in a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant. It features a reliable, rugged, and easy-to-maintain design for maximum uptime and high cost-effectiveness over its entire life cycle. Natural gas is used as the main fuel for gas turbines.
“The plant is one of the largest projects that is being implemented on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and has no analogues in our country. The most advanced technologies and equipment are used here, including a gas turbine plant. Its launch will be the next step in a complex commissioning process. The new plant will fully meet the Kazakh demand for polypropylene and will have a positive effect on the development of the country’s economy, as well as strengthen our export positions,
” said Head of KMG Mr. A. Aidarbayev.
In turn, CNCEC’s representative Mr. Xue Yingling
noted that by virtue of the close and well-coordinated cooperation between KPI, CNCEC and Siemens, it was possible to deliver and start up the gas turbine on time.

Let us recall, that the main construction of the plant, which will produce more than 65 different grades of polypropylene, was completed in December 2021. During the construction period, the enterprise received raw materials, electricity and preliminary demi, demineralized and process water. Large global companies such as Siemens, MAN, Mitsubishi, Honeywell, and others are involved in the project implementation. In addition, chief engineers of manufacturing plants came to Atyrau to set up high-tech equipment and train Kazakhstani specialists to work with it.
